Entrenamiento de la percepción rotacional con videojuegos

Aunque los videojuegos son una forma de entretenimiento muy popular en el siglo XXI, se subestima la medida en que las habilidades cognitivas están involucradas. El presente estudio piloto examinó experimentalmente los efectos de los videojuegos para agudizar las habilidades de percepción y rotación. El videojuego utilizado fue Perspective, un juego free-to-play desarrollado por DigiPen Institute of Technology que consiste en alterar un espacio 3D para resolver un rompecabezas 2D. Los sujetos jugaron al menos 2 horas de Perspective, y se sometieron a las pruebas de matrices progresivas de Raven y tareas rotativas de Cambridge antes y después de la exposición a dicho videojuego. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre las puntuaciones obtenidas, en ambas pruebas, antes de jugar Perspective y después. Además, se observaron diferencias de género en la tasa de mejora para cada tarea. Como muestran los resultados, los videojuegos son una herramienta válida para potenciar las habilidades visuoespaciales y se sugiere su aplicación en la rehabilitación cognitiva.
