Time and space in the stage experience. The impact of technology and the Internet on the performing arts.

Abstract
The advancement of new technologies and the Internet is transforming the idea of space and time. This in turn is changing the concepts of place and representation that define the nature of the performing arts, and together with the hybridization of technologies and genres, has created a new potential for development in this area. In this context, the stage experience is defined as a cultural experiment, reflecting both media and social processes. This article reflects on how the media have redefined concepts rooted in the materiality of the stage, such as place and representation, the simultaneous presence of audience and actors, or the participation of spectators. The critical question in this article pertains to how the stage reacts to technology and the new media ecosystem. The aim of the study is to observe, from a theoretical perspective, how the spectator and the stage relate through the media, and identify how technology and the Internet affect the stage experience. Insights gained from the study can be further explored in future research, from either a conceptual or empirical viewpoint.
