El programa Mahila Samakhya: Empoderar la educación para la igualdad de las mujeres en las comunidades desfavorecidas y las zonas rurales de la India

En India, el movimiento de mujeres y el gobierno han hecho mucho para mejorar la educación de las mujeres y construir la brecha de género. Sin embargo, se argumenta que India todavía tiene muchas desigualdades de género arraigadas en la sociedad y, como consecuencia, en la educación y que hay mucho trabajo por hacer en términos de implementación. Una forma alternativa de educación, el Programa Mahila Samakhya, se lanzó en India en 1988 para la educación y el empoderamiento de las mujeres en áreas rurales y comunidades desfavorecidas para lograr la igualdad. Las Mahila Sanghas o colectivos de mujeres se crearon para brindar un espacio para que mujeres y niñas se reúnan, reflexionen, hagan preguntas y expresen sus pensamientos. Este artículo aboga por la implementación de una educación empoderadora, además de la educación formal, para ayudar a las mujeres y las niñas a superar las desigualdades, especialmente en la educación. Su objetivo es demostrar cómo esta educación de empoderamiento aumenta la educación de las mujeres pobres en las zonas rurales, especialmente para las niñas. Examina la calidad y los resultados del programa Mahila Samakhya existente analizando el proceso de empoderamiento. El caso de estudio será el estado indio de Bihar y se aplicarán dos teorías de empoderamiento.Palabras clave
