La internacionalización de los medios chinos: un estudio de producción de CGTN África

Desde mediados de la década de 2000, los medios estatales de China se han involucrado en un proceso de internacionalización que tiene como objetivo aumentar la capacidad de Beijing para influir en la opinión pública mundial. África, donde algunos de los medios chinos más influyentes (Xinhua, CRI, China Daily…) han instalado sedes regionales, es el continente donde este proceso se ve más claramente. Una de estas organizaciones de noticias es CGTN África, el centro de producción y transmisión de la Televisión Central de China (CCTV) en Nairobi (Kenia). Este documento utiliza 36 entrevistas en profundidad con empleados actuales y anteriores de CGTN África para responder a tres preguntas: cómo es el proceso de producción de noticias en la estación; cuáles son los valores informativos más utilizados en la sala de redacción; y qué impacto tiene CGTN África en los profesionales de los medios en el continente. El análisis de las entrevistas revela, por un lado, una constante negociación entre agencia y estructura, que conduce a un producto informativo híbrido que podría denominarse, parafraseando otros usos similares, “noticias africanas con peculiaridades chinas”. Por otro lado, este documento exige más investigación académica sobre los procesos de comunicación entre países y regiones del Sur Global.Palabras clave
